Wild Rhythm offers small group Yoga classes, well-being services, workshops and creative retreats from an authentic eco studio in the stunning rural area of Okato, Taranaki. We're right under the mountain between its gorgeous rivers and nestled in New Zealand's native bird-filled bush with ocean views.

Wild Rhythm also provides beautiful event entertainment for public and private functions. Lit up in LED, UV, or Fire our dancers will certainly give your event the WOW factor.

Kundalini Yoga 'Rules' 101: Do what feels good...

We present ancient yogic technologies for your benefit, by designing classes that align with the energies of nature - the Moon, the Seasons, and Planetary movements at the time - meaning our classes will vary in energy level to offer your physical and energetic bodies a well-rounded balance of instruction for the ebbs and flows, monthly, seasonally and annually.  


There's absolutely no requirement to be bendy or flexible for the practice. We are not in Kundalini Yoga class to focus on getting a fit or bendy body. This will happen the more you attend however, we practice Kundalini yoga to unfurl our tight bodies, unblock trapped energy, and allow the flow of 'life energy' - which is what Kundalini is - to fuel the engine of our soul.


We work with our nervous system, training it to relax our totality (mind body spirit) and enjoy the present moment, deal with what comes gracefully, and give it the true strength of knowing when to actually switch to 'saving us' from real harm.


We recalibrate our glandular systems, aiding in their flushing of the body and the regulation of the release of fresh hormones.


We balance the polarities of our energy flow and tame the ego so our life path flows in alignment with who we truly are and what is good for us, our surroundings, and the universe. 


Destiny comes to fruition, dreams become reality, and motivation becomes natural. It truly is a powerful practice. Ask anyone who has practiced for a term..


Come to class with an open mind and do what feels good for You.

There's never pressure to stretch deep into some unattainable Instagram pose (p.s. we never do headstands or inversions).

You are the master of Your body and the days of trying to imitate a teacher are dissolving with so many other outdated ideas.

Your practice is to reconnect with how Your body feels and looks to You, with the guidance of a teacher to keep you safe and to keep the practice pure and beneficial. Every body looks different in the same pose and here at Wild Rhythm we hope you feel comfortable that it's all Perfectly Imperfect and OK.


Kundalini yoga is an active form of yoga that awakens the Kundalini (shakti) energy through,

  • Repetitive movement asana - moving poses - but not vinyasa or flow yoga

  • Mantra - sacred verse

  • Naad Yoga - sound or chanting healing, try not be afraid like I was - it's very liberating

  • Pranayam - breath focus

  • Mudra - sacred ways to hold the body

  • Bandhas - ways to "lock" energy in the body

  • Drishti - which is where you focus your eyes


The way these classes are put together is referred to as a 'Yoga Kriya' which is a complete sacred yoga set with a purpose.

The chanting in KY is spoken in Gurmuki, a close relative of Sanskrit Gurmuki. The various syllable sounds in Gurmuki activate energy in the heart, head, and belly (our 3 brains) in different combinations with different purposes.

When we bring in an Asana - posture or move - we can divert or point the desired messages to different parts of the body, either to raise or settle energy, as one example.

We may invite the energy to cleanse an area or stimulate it, through the nervous system or Meridians in Chinese medicine or Nadis in Indian script.


There are literally thousands of pathways and intersections just waiting for you to engage with them and the great thing is you need not understand any of it for it to work its divine purpose!
